چکیده

In this paper we propose a pipeline for highly automatic building reconstruction based on 3D point clouds. 3D building models are of great interest for many applications including city planning, navigation, emergency response and tourism and their reconstruction has been intensively studied. It is, however, still a challenge to minimize manual intervention and to achieve highly automated processing in practical applications. The main reason lies in the variability and complexity of urban scenes. We believe that one possible key to tackle this is a reliable primitive-based decomposition of urban scenes as well as their constituent buildings. It links scene interpretation with model reconstruction and, thus, naturally completes an automatic reconstruction pipeline. We propose an effective scheme for the decomposition of the whole scene straight into individual building components, i.e., primitives. The primitives are reconstructed via statistical generative modeling and assembled into individual watertight building models. An experiment has been performed on a dataset of a complete central European village demonstrating the potential of the proposed approach.

Integrated-approach-based Automatic Building Extraction

This paper presents an approach to automatic building extraction from large-scale aerial images. It is based on the integration of multiple information, knowledge and appropriate methods, and hierarchically consists of three major parts: building detection, building segment extraction, 3D feature matching and building modelling. Buildings are detected by segmenting DSMs using grey-scale mathema...

Feasibility of using smartphones in the reconstruction of the interior architecture of the building without using interior control points

The limitation of land in big cities has caused the vertical growth of cities; for example, high-rise buildings on the ground and underground urban facilities can be mentioned. This restriction has increased the value of land in cities, and on the other hand, it has created some new and complicated technical and legal aspects in the cadastral issues. To respond to these new technical and legal ...

Automatic Reconstruction Of 3D Environment Using Real Terrain Data And Satellite Images

This paper presents a novel 3D reconstruction method for large-scale 3D environments. There are three core components of our work: dynamic terrain modelling, river and water region identification and modelling using an active contour model and primitive shape matching method. Real-time environment reconstruction is constructed using real measurement data of GIS, in terms of digital elevation da...

Towards automatic 3D reconstruction of urban scenes from low-altitude aerial images

We propose a methodology for reconstructing large– scale architectural scenes from low–altitude aerial images, in an efficient, accurate and fully automatic way. Towards this goal, we have developed an area–based segmentation technique, called Colored Watershed, that is particularly suited to segment objects with homogeneous photometric properties, which are typical of such scenes. This techniq...

Design and implementation of an algorithm for automatic 3D reconstruction of building models using genetic algorithm

Automatic extraction and reconstruction of objects from Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data and images has been a topic of research for decades. In other words, laser scanner data are powerful data source for acquisition and updating of large scale topographic maps. With this information, topographic objects like buildings, trees and the relief can be determined. The goal of this research ...
